The difference between sampling, sample frame and sample size

  • Sampling is the process of selecting a group of individuals from a population to be studied and researched based on research criteria. Sampling in a study may reflect characteristics of a particular population.
  • The sample frame is a group of people who have the opportunity to be selected to participate in a study. Examples of sample frames are researchers to obtain a list of students’ names in the study area.
  • Sample size is the number of people selected from the population to use as a sample.
